The knock sensors on a modern engine are designed to detect and respond to vibrations caused by engine timing detonation, known as engine knock or pinging. A knock or ping can result in catastrophic damage to the engine, including cavitation or even perforation of a piston. The signals from the knock sensors allow the ECU to control the engine ignition timing to correct any knock, optimise power, and improve fuel efficiency.
 
The Aeroflow Performance GM LS1 to LS3 knock sensor conversion harness allows for the duel LS3/LSX knock sensor system to be plugged into the factory LS1 harness. The knock sensor harness utilises the single wire Holden Commodore VY 5.7 Litre knock sensors.
 
This conversion harness is used when converting Holden Commodore VT-VZ models with a 5.7 Litre LS1 to a later model 6.0 Litre LS engine.

Fitment Notes:
  • The knock sensor harness utilises the single wire Holden Commodore VY 5.7 Litre knock sensors.
  • To fit the LS1 knock sensors you will need to drill and tap a larger M10x1.50mm thread into the 6.0 Litre engine block.
  • Following installation you may require special PCM software changes or a PCM programmed for the use of dual wire knock sensors.
