Why choose a Harrop OTR? The reasons are many so the decision should be obvious. Other intakes on the market utilise cheap filter elements that often look legitimate but are in fact produced using inferior materials that regularly fail quality control standards here in Australia.
Unlike the filter element used throughout the Harrop OTR range, which is manufactured by the biggest name in filters, K&N, explicitly to Harrop specifications and is co-branded with the Harrop moniker, a name synonymous with performance and quality for more than 65 years. If an OTR doesn’t explicitly name K&N as the filter fitted on the company’s website, then buyer beware.
The Harrop OTR pioneered the unique two-piece construction of the main intake body. This was designed by Harrop’s in-house engineering department to address issues found with offerings from the competition - the biggest being filter sealing issues which have the potential for major issues for your engine. It has since become the go-to design for Holden OTR intakes from virtually all competitors – however, the original Harrop design proves it is still far superior for strength, reliability and most importantly, power.
Harrop also opted for a more premium option with external metal two-piece construction clamps, unlike competitor’s plastic tabs that are a part of the OTR housing that suffer from fatigue when they are bent open and closed to access the filter. This makes removing the filter far quicker and completely removes any stress put on the plastic OTR housing. When the filter is easier to access, you’ll also be far more inclined to service it regularly and enjoy the added performance from a clean element.
